A series of videos that seeks to explore a maternally ancestral connection and spirit. Each video contains three minimal shapes of soil—inspired by abstract tantric paintings—synced with recorded voices of the artist, her mother, and her grandmother. Sound vibrations meld the three shapes into one as the voices layer over one another. Video 1 is about motherhood, video 2 is about partnership and video 3 is about daughterhood. Each voice is in Spanish and comes with printed translations. In spite of the perpetual shifting of soil underfoot, Cruz-Chong embeds in it individual and shared experiences.
